FlexFit
Introduction
FlexFit—a collaborative project modeled after the design approach used in EasyGo. Our goal was to create a mobile fitness app that addresses real user needs. In Part 1, we conducted thorough research using affinity diagrams and empathy maps to define those needs. Part 2 involved refining prototypes based on remote moderated user tests, enhanced with UI kits for authenticity. Usability testing and refinement took center stage in Part 3, ensuring a seamless user experience. In the final phase (Part 4), rigorous validation confirmed FlexFit's role in promoting a healthier lifestyle. FlexFit showcases our commitment to user-centric design, research-driven innovation, and a comprehensive design process, empowering individuals on their fitness journey.

User Research Plan
The user research plan aims to investigate the usage patterns and challenges within the fitness industry, given the market size of £1.8bn in 2022. The primary goal of the research is to understand why individuals interested in fitness either use or refrain from using fitness apps, focusing on potential shortcomings or complexities. The research questions explore motivation and hindrances to physical activity, current tracking methods, preferences for app features, and the impact of personalized recommendations and social features. The methodology involves user interviews over a two-day period, targeting participants aged 18-45 with diverse fitness levels, technological proficiency, and backgrounds. The emphasis on gender, ethnicity, and economic diversity aims to capture varied perspectives on fitness app usage.
Hypothesis Statement-
Users who are fitness conscious may be more likely to use fitness apps if the apps provide personalized recommendations, goal-setting features, and a sense of community.Â
The complexity of existing fitness apps may hinder their adoption and regular usage among newcomers to fitness.
Interview Plan & ObjectivesÂ
Understanding the target audience: By asking about the age of the interviewees, you can gain insights into the demographics of your potential users. This will help you tailor the app's design and features to suit their needs.
Assessing current fitness habits: By asking about their engagement in physical activity, frequency, and methods of staying active, you can understand their current routines and preferences. This information will be valuable in creating a customizable workout plan that aligns with their existing habits.
Identifying fitness goals: Inquiring about specific fitness goals will help you understand the diverse objectives of your users. This knowledge will enable you to design the app to accommodate a wide range of goals, such as weight loss, muscle gain, or overall fitness improvement.
Evaluating tracking and progress measurement: By asking about how users track their progress and measure their achievements, you can gain insights into their existing methods and tools. This will help you identify areas where your app can provide better solutions and more accurate tracking.
Exploring challenges and dissatisfaction: Understanding the challenges users face in tracking or managing their fitness without an app will give you an opportunity to address those pain points. Additionally, gauging their satisfaction level with current methods will help you identify areas for improvement and design features that will provide a better user experience.
Gathering preferences and expectations: By asking about previous experiences with fitness apps, specific features they desire, and their openness to alternative tracking methods, you can gain valuable insights into their expectations. This information will guide you in creating a feature set that meets their needs and exceeds their expectations.Â
